Due to the current water levels of the Des Plaines River and future weather predictions from the National Weather Service, the Village of River Forest has activated its Flood Protection Response Plan.
At this time, Village officials will be closing Chicago Avenue from Thatcher Avenue to First Avenue to all traffic and constructing a flood wall as a precautionary measure. This will help to protect the Village against the uncertainty of predicted weather and the rising river. Please be alert and obey traffic signals at all times. The Village will continue to provide updates as the situation develops.
