  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age at the time of application and at the time the final eligibility list is posted; unless exempt from such age limitation as provided in the Fire and Police Commissioners Act. 
  • As one of the conditions for hire as a River Forest Police Officer is that all applicants must possess a minimum of 30 credit hours from an accredited College or University.
  • Applicants must submit proof that they have passed the Illinois Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) Test between October 7, 2022 to October 7, 2023.

  • Power Test Card issued between between October 7, 2022 to October 7, 2023.

If you are unable to obtain a copy of the above documentation at the time of submitting your application, you will be required to bring the documentation with you on the day of testing. 


It is mandatory you attend this Orientation meeting and arrive on time to be eligible to sit for the exam.

Mandatory Orientation will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. Check in time commences at 6:00P.M. No one will be admitted to the Orientation after 7:00 P.M.

Written Examination: The minimum passing grade is 70%.

Applicants who successfully pass the written test will be notified of the exact time and location for their oral interview.


If you need to obtain a POWER Test Card, we accept certifications from any vendor as long as they are certified to administer the test. The vendors below administer Power Test Certification classes.  Please contact them directly for more information:
