Property owners are encouraged to review the complete list of work that requires a permit.
Simple remodels not requiring structural changes can be expedited by scheduling a walk through inspection at the time of permit application submittal. A $200 non-refundable deposit is due at that time. Requirements for building permit applications are found on the application. Including all required documents with your application will also expedite the permit.
Building permit applications can be reviewed without the contractors identified on the application; however, they must be identified before the permit can be issued. All contractors must have a current license with the Village.
If inspections are required, they will be listed in the conditions for the building permit. Inspections need to be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance (708-714-3552). Your contractor will know when inspections are necessary, and generally inspections are completed in two stages (rough and final).
