Update: River Forest Police Investigation

RIVER FOREST, IL   River Forest detectives and officers are actively working with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office Felony Review Unit to investigate and properly charge the  offender in an alleged incident that occurred at approximately 10:00 AM this morning at Jewel Foods 7525 W. Lake Street in River Forest. 

A verbal exchange began between two customers, one a male, the other a female, which started inside the store and subsequently escalated in the store parking lot where the altercation became physical. The Police Department was on scene moments after receiving the 911 calls and has been actively working on the incident since then.  The alleged offender is in police custody.  

Investigators and prosecutors are reviewing videos posted to social media, cell phone videos, store videos, and street camera videos, as well as  interviewing all witnesses, including the victim. As part of this process, all police interview, incident, and evidence reports will be thoroughly reviewed by the Assistant State’s Attorney assigned to the case. 

We have no tolerance for  hate in River Forest.  Additionally, we support any and all efforts by investigators and prosecutors to hold those who engage in criminal activity that is motivated by hate fully accountable. The River Forest Police Department will provide an update on this incident after the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office completes its review and recommends appropriate charges. We commend the witnesses that came forward to assist the victim and who provided vital information for this investigation.
