The Village of River Forest is accepting applications for the full-time position of Community Service Officer (CS0).  The CSO is a uniformed, non-sworn member of the Police Department that reports to the Support Services Sergeant.  The CSO interacts heavily with the public and performs police-related duties that do not require the services if a sworn officer such as traffic control, enforcement of local ordinances, investigation of private property traffic accidents, and responding to non-criminal service calls.  A copy of the job description is available here.  

This position requires an individual who communicates effectively, demonstrates a command of Village regulations, attention to detail, integrity, a dedication to providing outstanding customer service, sound independent judgment and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED certificate.  30 hours of coursework at an accredited College/University in police science, fire science or a public safety related field is preferred.  Prior law enforcement, fire service and/or animal control experience is also preferred. This position requires a valid Illinois driver’s license and Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card. The successful candidate must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.  

This position typically works Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 :30 p.m.  Some overtime, after hours and weekend assignments may be required.  The salary range for this non-exempt position is $46,165-60,553 plus an excellent benefits package. Starting salary is DOQ.

The Village of River Forest is seeking an energetic, results-oriented individual to join the Village’s management team in the role of Management Analyst/Deputy Village Clerk.  This newly created position will support the activities of the Village Administrator’s office and Village Board of Trustees.  The Management Analyst/Deputy Village Clerk is responsible for the preparation and processing of legislative documents, acting as the Village’s FOIA officer and supporting the Village’s public engagement, communication and transparency efforts.  The position will have exposure to and participate in the Village’s collective bargaining and budgeting processes, and will attend and participate in internal and external meetings as a representative of the organization.

This position requires an individual with strong communication and organization skills as well as excellent attention to detail.  This position also requires strong interpersonal skills, a desire to provide outstanding customer service, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment. 

This position requires a minimum of one to three years of work experience in a municipal government or public body and a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in public or business administration, political science, public policy, or a related field.  A Master’s Degree in Public Administration (or ability to obtain Master’s Degree within approximately six months of hire) is strongly preferred.

The salary range for this full-time, exempt position is $58,207-$84,662 plus an excellent benefits package.  Starting salary is DOQ.   This position will be required to attend Village Board Meetings.
