A Special E-News Message from the Village President, Catherine M. Adduci

COVID-19 UPDATE

August 27, 2020

Dear River Forest Residents,

Masks Required for Indoor and Outdoor Dining

Earlier this week, Governor Pritzker announced new guidelines effective immediately for restaurants and bar establishments to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. These latest guidelines will require patrons to wear a mask during any interaction with wait staff, food service workers and other employees at bars and restaurants throughout the state. Face coverings must be worn over the nose and mouth when patrons are approached and served by staff, including but not limited to when employees take patrons orders, deliver food and beverages, and service tables. Face coverings must be worn except when eating and drinking at the table or bar. Click here to read the new guidelines in full and click here to read the press release.

Please make sure to bring your mask when you support restaurants in the community. These new requirements help us all dine safely and are vital to protect restaurant workers and other patrons. And remember - it only works if you wear it.

Flu Shots

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other health experts recommend taking extra precautions this fall and winter to reduce the spread of other respiratory diseases such as the flu. The CDC recommends getting a flu vaccination if you are able in September or October. Click here for more information about this year’s flu season. Flu shots are available in River Forest at Walgreens, CVS, and Jewel.

River Forest COVID-19 Senior Response Team

As we move into fall and go back to school, please continue to check in on your elderly neighbors. The Senior Response Team is available to assist with grocery shopping, pharmacy pick-up and other errands. Please call 708-613-1642 for any assistance.

Food Drive

The Karrow Singh Family is hosting a neighborhood Fall Food Drive this Sunday, August 30, 2020 from 8am-8pm. Please bring your donations to 106 Ashland. Click here for more information.

IHDA Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program

The Illinois Housing Development Authority has launched an emergency mortgage assistance program to support individuals who have fallen behind on mortgage payments because of job or income losses related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Applications will be accepted between August 24 - September 4; however, the application window may close early due to high volume.
