Traffic Alert
Southbound Keystone from Lake to Hawthorne Closed Monday, 9/21
On Monday, September 21, southbound Keystone Avenue will be closed from Lake Street to Hawthorne Avenue for pavement restoration, weather permitting. Concrete patching will be installed at areas that have been excavated in an effort to start putting the excavated roadway back together. Westbound traffic on Central Avenue and Hawthorne Avenue will be permitted to turn north onto Keystone Avenue, up to Lake Street. Eastbound traffic on Hawthorne will be permitted to continue through the Keystone Avenue intersection. Detours will be installed as needed to accommodate this work and will be removed as soon as possible once the concrete has properly cured. Please use caution when driving through these areas and it is advisable to avoid them if possible during these times.
1st Avenue Closed at Tracks between Chicago and North Next Week
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be repairing a badly deteriorated at-grade railroad crossing on IL 171 (1st Avenue), south of IL 64 (North Avenue) in the Village of Melrose Park. IL 171 (1st Avenue) will be fully closed to through traffic at the WCL Railway tracks. The closure is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 9 AM and conclude on or before Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 9 AM, weather permitting. Detours for this project include North Avenue, Harlem Avenue, Lake Street, and 5th Avenue. There may be an increase of cut through traffic in the Village due to this closure.
