One Earth Film Festival Young Filmmakers Contest Announces Young Filmmakers Online Academy

Lights, Camera, Action!

The Online Academy is an exciting new interactive filmmaking learning experience for students who would like to make an environmental film!  The three part interactive course will teach budding young filmmakers and environmentalists all the aspects of Pre-Production, Production and Post-Production. Though catered to environmental storytelling, the program covers the three phases of standard filmmaking.  Each lesson contains several short, pre-recorded videos on creative, technical and innovative aspects of remote or small group and socially distanced filmmaking.

This program is truly interactive! Students can learn in a virtual classroom setting with their teacher, work with their peers in breakout rooms to write scripts, and create storyboards and record films on their own or with their group where they will work together to learn and implement editing and special effects!  They will even learn how to properly publish their film!

The program is Adaptable, Accessible, and Actionable!

Can be:

  • Teacher lead
  • With a Young Filmmakers Online Acadamy workshop
  • Self instructed or learn with a parent.

The Young Filmmakers Contest is hosting a special pre-release program free to students who would like to participate in the beta workshop. The course is over three weekends,  October 4th, 11th and 18th.  Middle School level will begin on Zoom at 1pm and will be instructed by Patrick Thomas Keen, the creator of our Online Academy.  Elementary School level will commence at 3:00pm, instructed by Adam Joel, filmmaker and founder of Aggressively Compassionate.

Students can sign up directly via the link on the One Earth Film Festival website or via the links below.  Either way, the password will be required.  There will be a limit of 10 participants for each so it is on a first come first serve basis.
