STATEMENT FROM VILLAGE PRESIDENT CATHERINE ADDUCI

December, 21, 2020

Over this past weekend, there was an incident of “Black Lives Matters” sign stolen from a River Forest property as well as garbage being thrown on to the lawn of a resident. The River Forest Police are investigating these incidents and individuals who have information are encouraged to call 708-366-7125.  Additional updates will be provided as they become available.  Anyone involved in this type of behavior will be prosecuted.

As a long-time resident and your Village President, I am saddened and sickened by the cowardly acts of hate displayed in River Forest over the weekend.  As we came together so quickly to display the lights of the season, so must we come together quickly to counter the darkness that this hate perpetuates.  We have to demonstrate to the entire community that there is no room for hate here in River Forest...Period.

To demonstrate our solidarity against this type of behavior, I will participate in the National Day of Racial Healing that Dominican University is holding at 6:00 PM on January  19, 2021.  I strongly urge the community to do the same.
