River Forest Police Arrest Two Chicago Gang Members for Residential Burglary and Auto-Theft Incidents

January, 22, 2018

On 01/04/18 the River Forest Police Department responded to a report of a Residential Burglary in the 900 block of Franklin. The offenders unlawfully entered the residence, and stole two vehicles from the garage, as well as jewelry from within the house. River Forest Police Investigators recovered both of the stolen vehicles, as well as some of the stolen jewelry, pursuant to the on-going investigation. Investigators and crime scene technicians processed the vehicles for physical evidence once they were located. Evidence from the vehicles identified multiple offenders through latent print comparison. Three of the offenders, who were identified through fingerprints, were juveniles from Chicago as well as one adult from Chicago. These four suspects were also persons of interest in other Residential Burglaries in neighboring jurisdictions and as a result, River Forest Police Investigators obtained assistance from the Elmhurst Police Department, the Norridge Police Department, and the Chicago Police Department to apprehend the offenders responsible for this Residential Burglary.

On 01/16/18 the River Forest Police Department responded to the same residence in the 900 block of Franklin for a second report of a Burglary. The offenders forced open the service door of the garage, and took one of the vehicles that they previously had taken back on 01/04/18. The offenders had kept the keys to the stolen car. Investigators once again recovered the vehicle in Chicago, and processed it for physical evidence.

On 01/21/18 two of the juvenile suspects were arrested at a residence in Chicago. One juvenile was charged with Attempted Burglary, and the other was charged with Burglary, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, and Criminal Trespass to Motor Vehicle. Both juveniles were screened through the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center for consideration to be housed at their facility but they did not qualify to be transferred according to Cook County protocol. As a result, both juveniles were released to their guardians pending a January Juvenile Court preliminary hearing date.

The River Forest Police and their law enforcement partners continue to actively search for the other suspects responsible for this brazen set of crimes.
