A Special Community Message From the Village President, Catherine M. Adduci

May, 25, 2022

Dear River Forest residents,

Following the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, that killed 18 students and 3 adults, the Village of River Forest stands together during this difficult moment, sending love and healing thoughts to the victims, their families and the entire Uvalde community.  We send our prayers to all the parents, families, students, staff, and first responders involved. No parent or child should ever have to face this unimaginable tragedy.

The River Forest Police Department remains vigilant in our efforts to work as community partners to protect students and staff at all schools within the Village. We continually work to improve safety procedures and the tools used in the school systems. So far, no school has reported any threat to their campuses.

Our schools should be one of the safest places for students and educators – but gunshots shattered the physical safety of the school community in Uvalde, Texas. All River Forest residents, visitors, students, parents, and staff are all reminded to Call 911 immediately if you see something, hear something or read something suspicious.

Sincerely,

Cathy Adduci
